Haryana assembly poll: SAD (B) to contest 2 assembly seats in alliance with INLD
Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has decided to follow the Lok Sabha poll pattern in Haryana assembly election also as it will tie up with the main opposition party, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), and field two candidates.
Senior INLD leader Abhay Chautala on Monday said their party has entered into an alliance with the SAD and the Akalis would contest two seats - Kalanwali in Sirsa district and Ambala City. The INLD would contest all the remaining 88 seats.
SAD is in alliance with BJP in Punjab and the saffron party had a tie-up with Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) in the Lok Sabha polls. SAD drew much flak from BJP for going with INLD in the LS polls. However, BJP and HJC are yet to seal their deal for the assembly polls. Abhay disclosed the party's decision while addressing workers in various constituencies of Sirsa district. He, however, said names of the candidates for the two seats would be declared by the SAD. In 2009, SAD had won Kalanwali seat in alliance with INLD and it had lost Ambala City. It was SAD's first win in any state legislative elections outside Punjab.
