Jamnagar is a city located on the western coast of India in the state of Gujarat in the Gulf of Kutch. It is the administrative headquarters of the Jamnagar District. Jamnagar is the fifth largest city in the Indian state of Gujarat after Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot. Jamnagar is the largest city on the western most side
of India.
Jamnagar contains several ancient temples, such as Sidhnath Mahadev Temple in the Jamnagar city area, the historic Navlakhi Temple in Ghumli, very ancient Kileshwar Temple in the Barda Hills, the ancient Sun Temple at Gop and the Bhid Bhanjan Temple built by the JAM Saheb. A Congress-dominated parliamentary constituency, Jamnagar covers the whole Jamnagar District in the state of Gujarat, better known as the Jewel State of western India. The city of Jamnagar, besides being the administrative seat of power in the Jamnagar district, is also the Municipal Corporation of the District. The Jamnagar Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 12) has a total of 1,298,599 electorates out of which 627,838 are females and 670,761 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.
