Narendra Modi, BJP may offer ticket to Muslim Candidates in this Assembly Polls 2012 |
10 Aug 2012:Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is likely to give assembly tickets to at least two Muslim faces in the upcoming polls by year end. A senior BJP leader has advocated tickets for Muslim faces. The leader also told Bhaskar News that this will be an effort not only to rectify Modi’s image but also recollect lost vote banks of the minorities.
After the new limitation, there are nine seats in the state that are Muslim-majority areas. The BJP-led Gujarat government has been in power since 2001. Not a single BJP ticket was given to a Muslim face in these ten years.
Jamalpur Kharia in Ahmedabad, Bankaner in Rajkot and Vagra in South Gujarat are seats for which tickets are likely to be given to Muslim faces. source:daily.bhaskar.com |
