New Delhi: As the election fever grips Delhi University, student unions are busy in preparing the candidate list. DUSU election is considered to be politically significant before the upcoming Lok Sabha election in 2019. Nomination papers will be filed and examined on Tuesday. Thereafter, the list of the candidates will be released. Moreover, the names can be withdrawn till September 5, the day the final list of a candidate will be released, said a source in the DU election member. According to the sources, ABVP has nominated Ankit Basoya for president, Sudhir Deedha for vice-president, Jyoti Chowdhary for secretary and Shakti Singh for joint secretary. All of them are MA students from Buddhist subjects. Apart from this, those in the panel of ABVP includes Jagat Tanwar's for the post of vice-president or secretary. Jagat is from Shri Arvindo College Evening is the first-year student in Hindi Honors course. Shakti Singh and Ravi Yadav are also students of Buddhist subjects for the post of joint secretary.
According to sources, the candidates have also been selected on caste basis in the panel. The CYSS-AISA alliance has not declared the names of their candidates till late evening. AISA's national president Sucheta Dey told that Kanwalpreet Kaur who is Delhi University's AISA president will oversee the party's DUSU election campaign. She said that names of Ritwik Raj, Mayank, Sunny Tanwar and Anusha Singh are the potential candidates for the post of president and vice president. No information was given about names from CYSS. NSUI is considering to field Akash Choudhary for president, Sunny Chillar for vice-president, Lina or Pragya Tomar for secretary and Manoj Tomar or Saurav Yadav for joint-secretary.
