The annual election to the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU), will be held on 14 September 2018. The election schedule was released last Monday on 27 August. For the last two years, all four top posts in JNUSU have been held by a Left-alliance involving the Students Federation of India (SFI), All India Students Association (AISA) and Democratic Students Front (DSF).
Last year, Left candidates Geeta Kumari won the post of President, Simone Zoya Khan won the post of Vice President, Duggirala Srikrishna won as General Secretary and Shubhanshu Kumar won the post of Joint Secretary respectively.
The newly constituted electoral committee imposed a partial code of conduct while saying that no permission will be given. A member of the committee said, "There was a meeting with different students' organization on Monday night." Himanshu, who was elected the election commissioner for the JNUSU election, said that he will try, no one will violate the Code of Conduct in any manner in any election.
