The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will not contest the 2017 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh if the poll schedule clashes with the elections in Punjab and/or Goa, where the party has a better chance of faring well, a party source said
. The leader told TOI that party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had said in a meeting with the party's UP unit that they would contest elections only in states where there is a good chance of victory.
The source added saying, "During a meeting with the AAP UP unit last month, Arvind Kejriwal had said that the party would contest elections only in states where there is at least a 90% chance of victory. He warned those who had joined the party for tickets or posts to leave since we are not a party who's end goal is power."
