DMDK to release candidates list for civic polls soon, Tamil Nadu DMDK candidate list, DMDK candidate list for Tamil nadu local body elections 2016
DMDK is expected to release its first list of candidates for local body elections in the state in a day or two with the ruling AIADMK and principal Opposition DMK releasing their first list of candidates.
According to DMDK sources, preparations are underway to finalise the candidates for elections at the district level with party chief Vijayakanth appointing in-charges to oversee the elections in all districts.
“We have been receiving applications from ticket seekers from September 21 to 30. We will finalise candidates’ list in a day or two and start releasing the list,” a senior DMDK leader said, noting that the last day for filing nomination is October 3.
DMDK snapped its ties with People’s Welfare Front after facing complete rout in the recently held Assembly election. DMDK not only lost all the seats it contested but also saw its vote share dip to a new low of 2.4 per cent. The party also witnessed large scale desertion of its cadres to the ruling AIADMK and opposition DMK.
“Captain has decided to go it alone this polls after series of consultation with party office-bearers across the state,” he said, adding that his party hopes to perform better than the Assembly elections and win sizeable number of seats.
