 About Kolkata Dakshin:

Kolkata Dakshin is one of the 41 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state of West Bengal. It was formed on 1951, has seven segments of Vidhan Sabha with over 1,500,000 voters. The Kolkata Dakshin Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 23) consists of 1,505,638 number of electorates in totality, of these 821,490 are males and 684,148 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests.

 About Kolkata Dakshin:

The city of Kolkata is the district headquarters of Kolkata District as well as the capital of West Bengal. Kolkata is one of the oldest port cities of the country and is the third most economic cities of South Asia. Nicknamed "City of Joy", it sprawls over an area of about 1,850 sq km. 

As per 2011 census, the urban agglomeration of Kolkata houses over 14,000,000 people and has a population density of over 24,000 people every sq km. It has a sex ratio of 899 females per 1000 males and about 15% of the population is under the age of six. The average literacy rate here is 88% and it has a large ethnic mix of people, mostly Bengalis. Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and English are widely spoken here. India's only Chinese neighbourhood exists in this city. It has a 77% Hindu majority. Several premium colleges and universities are located here. The University of Calcutta is the oldest modern university in the entire South Asia. NH-2, NH-6, NH-34 and NH-117 are connected to this city.
