About the Constituency:
Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a Union Territory in Western India, locked between Gujarat in North and Maharashtra in South. The UT is represented in Lok Sabha by a single Parliamentary Constitency, which is reserved for a candidate from Schedule Tribe. The 2014 general election is the 16th Lok Sabha election to be conducted in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. As per the schedule released by the Election Commission of India,
the election will be conducted here on 30 April 2014.
The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is represented in the Lok Sabha by a single parliamentary constituency, which is reserved for a candidate belonging to the Scheduled Tribes category. In the last general election (2009), the constituency had over 1,54,000 eligible voters. and the election was won by the BJP.

The total population of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is over 3,40,000 as per the 2011 census data. There is a 52% male majority, and the sex ratio of the area is 775 females per 1,000 males. Over 62% of the population belongs to the Scheduled Tribes, while the rest comprises Marathis, Gujaratis, Rajasthanis, etc. The average literacy rate is 78%.
