About the Constituency:
Pondicherry has only one parliamentary constituency, with the same name. The Pondicherry Lok Sabha constituency is not reserved for either SC or ST candidates. This year, 8,85,458 voters will take part in the Lok Sabha election in this state. Of these, 4,60,488 are male while 4,24,958 are female.
It is one of the few Indian states to have a sex ratio in the favour of females (1,037 females for every 1,000 males). As per 2011 census, the total population is 12,47,953. The literacy rate is also high, being 85.85%.
