Government Will Act Against Hoarders To Bring Down Food Prices

 Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that the government will come down heavily on hoarders and bring down prices at the earliest. He Blamed the rise in food prices on hoarding and black-marketing . He said the government's top priority is to control prices. As "There is no shortage of onion and sugar in the country. We have huge stocks of wheat and rice. Prices are rising due to hoarding and black-marketing...The NDA government will not tolerate hoarding and corruption. Stating that prices have risen due to apprehensions that agricultural production would be affected because of a poor monsoon, Paswan said the government is taking steps to control prices and already onion rates have stabilized.

India Will Energetically Connect With Neighbors. Sushma

Spelling out the new Indian government's foreign policy towards its neighbors, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said India would actively engage with them to ensure security, steadiness and prosperity for all nations. "We are convinced that India's development cannot be complete and sustainable unless we succeed in building productive partnerships with our immediate neighbors," she said while addressing scholars at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies here. "We will pursue a policy of active engagement with our neighbors with the aim of ensuring security, stability and prosperity for all. We will, therefore, devote our energy to working much more closely with our neighbors in pursuit of our development goals," she said. Swaraj stressed that India will walk the extra mile to create opportunities and to build virtuous cycles of prosperity in the region. India will pursue the goal of economic integration and interconnectedness through trade, investment, transportation, capacity building, environment friendly practices and means that promote equitable development in the region, she said.

 Health Minister Faces Condemnation For Saying Sex Education Should Be Banned

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan is facing severe criticism for his remark that sex education should be banned in schools. "If India's Health Minister has such views, then it shows that he has no morals. It is important to educate adolescents in such matters. If they are not educated, how will they know about such issues," asked Congress leader Manish Tewari. He is also facing flak on Twitter. Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh tweeted, "Another regressive statement from health minister Harsh Vardhan – Sex education should be banned? Which world he lives in? Latest from RSS lab. Harsh Vardhan wants to take India in Stone Age." Teachers in the Delhi University, too, hit out at Harsh Vardhan saying he should 'check his mind'. One of the professors at DU said that such a view is not expected from an experienced MBBS. Meanwhile Bharatiya Janata Party, has distanced itself from Harsh Vardhan's comment saying these are his personal views

Rajnath Singh Goes Tough Says there Will Be No Talks With Naxals, Will Strike Back If They Attack.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today met top bureaucrats of all Naxal-affected states and has taken a tough stand against the Naxals after the meeting. Rajnath Singh said that the government won't talk with the Naxals, but a balanced approach will be adopted. He also said that the security forces will retaliate if the Naxals attack. Rajnath added that the Centre will provide incentives to the forces fighting Naxalism. The Odisha DGP had asked for more Centre-State co-ordination and choppers to deal with the Naxal threat during the meeting. All 10 Naxal-affected states including Telangana attended the meet.

Kashmiri Pandits Delegation Meets HRD Minister

A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits met HRD Minister Smriti Irani and pressed for measures to ensure displaced students get benefits of central educational schemes available to Jammu and Kashmir and steps to promote Kashmiri language and literature and revival of Sharda script.The delegation of All India Kashmiri Samaj and Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch also called for extending the special scholarship scheme for Kashmiri students to pursue higher studies in the country to displaced students. A demand for extending reservation for displaced Kashmiri students for admission to medical education institutes was also made.
