What Narendra Modi says about invite of 'SAARC' Leaders?
Describing his move to invite regional leaders to his swearing-in as a right decision at the right time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said a message has gone out to the world which was still talking about the development.
- Visiting the BJP headquarters for the first time after he became the Prime Minister, Modi said: "The entire world got a message and they are still talking about it, what happened, how it happened. It shows how effective a right decision taken at the right time can be."
- He said people had a lot of expectations of his government and it was the duty of the administration to live up to their aspirations. India's democracy needs to be strengthened so that the world community would give the country due respect and status, he told a gathering of BJP cadres in the presence of party president and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
- Claiming that people had been disillusioned with the Congress and that other alternatives had not helped, Modi said his government has the additional responsibility of living up to expectations.
- The clear mandate that the BJP got would not have been possible without a common thought process from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Modi said.
- The elections were a turning point and traditional caste, religious and other political equations were ignored by voters who chose the politics of hope, he said.
Modi, who has asked his ministerial colleagues to set a 100-day agenda, will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday to discuss ways to ensure efficient governance and implementation of programmes. Modi has also unveiled a 10-point agenda, including increasing investment, completing infrastructure projects in affixed timeframe and giving freedom to bureaucrats to make decisions.
