Three-time chief minister, Dikshit is the face of the party in Delhi. Dikshit was elected to Parliament in 1984 and even became minister in Rajiv Gandhi cabinet. She was made chief minister of Delhi after Congress’ big victory in 1998 elections.
An engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur, Arvind Kejriwal quit his job as an Income Tax Commissioner before turning into a full time activist fighting against corruption.
He was one of the most prominent figures who pushed for the Right-To-Information Act. He, along with Anna Hazare, was one of the most prominent faces in India Against Corruption movement that fought for Janlokpal Bill.
He launched the Aam aadmi party in October 2012 and has decided to contest from the New Delhi seat, which is represented by chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
Though the Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is talking about going into the election under “collective leadership” it is the Delhi chief Vijay Goel who is spearheading the party’s campaign in the run-up to elections.
He has been raising issues such as electricity tariff hike and deteriorating law and order, which may turn into big issues in this election.Son of former Delhi Assembly speaker Charti Lal Goel, Vijay’s won the DUSU election in 1977.
He was union minister of state in Prime Minister Office and Atal Behari Vajpayee’s cabinet.
