RSS chief remains evasive on question of naming Modi as BJP's PM candidate.
New Delhi: After the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-Bharatiya Janata Party's 2-day session, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat remained evasive on the question to name Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra as party's prime ministerial candidate.
He said the Sangh's job was to advise the BJP and now it upto the party to make the announcement. He said, "The Sangh's advice has been relayed to the BJP, we don't have any personal opinion. It's their job to speak, not ours.
The RSS has already given the verdict and the BJP will make the announcement now. Sources said the RSS leaders have agreed to name Modi as their prime ministerial candidate and that official announcement may come in a few days. Sources added that seniors BJP leaders including LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj are not against the idea of Modi as PM.
"BJP president Rajnath Singh will call a meeting of the party's parliamentary board in the next few days. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has held another round of meeting with Advani," said sources.
The RSS-BJP held two-day meeting in New Delhi, which ended on Monday. However, RSS leader Manmohan Vaidya had said that there was no discussion over the party's prime ministerial candidate during the meeting.
