The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is headed by a Municipal commissioner. The mayor is the head of the house, who is usually from the majority party. All 195 candidates took an oath to work hard and perform clean governance after they take over as corporators in the BMC.

The BJP today started its campaign for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, just a day after the Shiv Sena started its campaign.
The Saffron Party started its campaign soon after paying tribute at the Maharshtra Martyr's Memorial in the Hutatma Chowk of south Mumbai. All 195 candidates of BJP, along with party MLAs and MPs from Mumbai were present at the Chowk.
