Nationalist Congress Party plans for alliance; Prepares candidates list for 288 seats
Sharad Pawar is preparing the list of the possible candidates for 288 seats in the assembly constituencies in Maharashtra. This seems to be the preparation for campaigning of the Assembly Elections in the state.
Sharad Pawar has started his preparation to face the Assembly Elections in the state. He is already in the process of preparing a list of the candidates for the 288 seats in the State Assembly Elections in Maharashtra. In this regard, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has faced a tough time with its alliance Congress over seat sharing in these polls and now wants to be fully prepared just in case both the parties decided to break the alliance and contest independently.
Pawar has structured a strategy over the weekends with his confidants and some of the senior leaders of the party asking for their assessment of the elementary and ground situation in the state. The meeting has come to the conclusion that the party could pitch for much more than the number of seats than that of in 2009. NCP has decided to contest some of the constituencies where no such substantial competition is available from Congress in the past.

As per NCP Leader Manikrao Thakre, State President of Congress Party confirmed the press that there have been two rounds of conversation of NCP and Congress and so it has been insisted that the latter should get more seats compared to the last time. Congress spokesman said that they are trying to get another alliance On-Board, but it has still not been confirmed how many seats can be spared for NCP.
In the Lok Sabha Election 2009, NCP had won 8 seats. This 17:08 ratio was used as the base for the seat sharing for assembly of 2009. Now, when the NCP had won four seats, congress managed to get only two seats in Maharashtra so that NCP feels that they should get a higher position. This time NCP is expecting more seats and so they have asked for 144 or any such particular number. The party hopes that they can do better this time like Congress. There may be some exchange of seats as Congress might do it well as that of NCP. This has been stated by State CM and NCP Leader Ajit Pawar. The move of getting more seats in the State has been supported by another NCP Leader Praful Patel.
