Legislative Assembly elections are due to be held in Jharkhand in November - December 2019 to elect the 81 members of Legislative Assembly. The term of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly ends on December 27, 2019.

Candidates will contest in Phase II Jharkhand elections.

A total of 260 candidates will contest 20 of the 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand.

BJP will be rewarded for better governance in last five years': Raghubar Das expressed confidence after voting

After casting his vote in the second phase of the five-stage Assembly polls, chief minister Raghubar Das expressed confidence when he said that the BJP had been successful in establishing a better government in the last five years.

"I appeal to the people of the state to participate in this festival of democracy. I believe we have been successful in establishing a better govt in last five years for which we will be rewarded," said Das.


Voter turnout remains at 45.41% at 2 pm

At 2 pm, the voter turnout remained at 45.41 percent in the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly polls. The highest poll percentage was recorded in Sisai (54.56 percent) while the lowest was recorded in Jamshedpur West Assembly constituency (33 percent).

Firing Reported in Gumla Assembly

  • An instance of firing has been reported in Sirsa block of Gumla district in Jharkhand. Voting has been temporarily affected on the booth number 36 of the district. Police have reached the spot and the situation is being brought to normal. (News18)

    Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon (Sisai), Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda (Khunti) and BJP's state unit president Laxman Gilua (Chakradharpur) were among the early voters.

    A large number of people were also seen in queues waiting for their turn in Baharagora and Chaibasa constituencies, braving cold conditions, the officials said. (PTI)

    Around 12.35 percent polling was recorded till 9 am on Saturday in the second of the five-phase Jharkhand assembly elections that began in 20 constituencies.
