Congress Break alliance with JMM in Jharkhand
Ranchi: Just ahead of Jharkhand Assembly elections, over a year long alliance between the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has collapsed, Congress general secretary BK Hariprasad confirmed on Friday.
AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad said that the Congress would contest the Assembly polls in Jharkhand along with RJD and JD-U, with which it had faced bypolls in Bihar in August. Hariprasad said the Congress will take a call later on whether to withdraw support to the Hemant Soren Government.
- The Election Commission has decided to go for five-phase Assembly polls in Jharkhand.
- The first phase in state will be held on November 25.
- The last date for filing nomination papers for the first phase is Nov 5.
- The scrutiny of nomination papers would take place Nov 7 while the last date for withdrawals is Nov 10.
- Voting for the remaining four phases will take place Dec 2, 9, 14 and 20.
- Counting of votes will take place Dec 23.
- In all, polling will be held for 81 seats in Jharkhand.
