BJP declare 1st candidate list for jharkhand soon
Ranchi: State BJP leaders are in Delhi to decide names of candidates for all the 81 assembly constituencies. It was a busy day at Delhi durbar where a series of meetings took place on Thursday to shortlist names of at least three candidates from each constituency. The BJP central election committee is likely to announce the names of candidates for 13 assembly constituencies which are going to polls in the first phase, nomination for which concludes on November 5.
"The committee would shortlist at least three names against each seat after a day-long and hand over the list to central election committee for Friday meeting," said BJP state spokesperson Pradeep Sinha, adding that names for the first phase are likely to be declared tomorrow.
Besides Sinha, senior leaders like former chief minister Arjun Munda, state president Ravindra Rai, former MP Yashwant Sinha, national vice-president Raghubar Das, former national secretary, Louis Marandi, MP P N Singh, former MLA Saryu Rai and many others were present at the core committee meeting chaired by national general secretary Bhupendra Yadav.
On Tuesday, BJP held meetings at 14 parliamentary constituencies for suggestions on candidates. The names were dropped in sealed boxes, details of which were kept secret. Interestingly, some in the state core committee, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of shortlisting names, are aspirants from their respective constituencies in the elections.
While Delhi BJP office has turned into a camp of party workers from district level, who have been camping and lobbying for tickets, party insiders said that influence techniques are not working this time. "The central BJP leadership has become confident after the poll results of Maharashtra and Haryana and the party is not ready to compromise with its strategy," said a senior party functionary clarifying that lobbying is not going to yield any results.
