BSP candidate from Jammu East assembly withdraws in support of Congress
Jammu: BSP candidate from Jammu East assembly constituency Showkat Gujjar on Friday withdrew his candidature in support of the congress nominee from the seat. "I had entered into the poll arena with the sole motive to serve the people of Jammu east.
However, the work done by my elder brother Vikram ji in the past for the people of this constituency and policies framed by him to carry forward the development activities in Jammu east have highly impressed me. It is therefore I have decided to quit from the contest and extend my whole hearted support to the Congress in Jammu east. Also my party workers and other leaders are with me in extending all support to Vikram ji,” Gujjar told reporters here today.
He said that he along with his supporters have extended unconditional and wholehearted support to the congress candidate. Gujjar said that he feels hopeful that congress candidate would develop the area after winning the election.
Showkat, in his address to media, on the occasion, said that Vikram Malhotra is a synonym of development in the constituency and he has all assurance from Vikram that he will redress to all the grievances of masses of Jammu east. “I appeal to all the members of Gujjar, Muslim and Harijan communities to vote in favour of Vikram Malhotra,” he added.
