J&K elections 2014: PDP Confident of winning 45 to 50 seats

Srinagar: In Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is slated to address an election rally in Handwara on Sunday. On the other hand, his arch rival Mehbooba Mufti will be in Homesh-alibug. She has ruled out an alliance with the BJP, calling the party divisive ahead of the first phase polling in J&K later in November.

"We are confident of winning 45 to 50 seats. We have also decided to make inroads in Jammu and Doda. During Parliament elections, we won 41 seats, we will make sure that we improve on that," said Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti. She hit out at the efforts made by the National Conference (NC) to woo Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) to keep out People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Buoyed with the party's recent successes, the BJP is optimistic of performing well in the Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, both of which will have five-phased polling from November 25. The Assembly polls in the state will start from November 25 and end on December 20. The results will be out on December 23. The last day for campaigning for the first phase polling in J&K is on Sunday.
