J&K elections 2014: BJP holds Congress responsible for problems

Jammu: BJP on Sunday held Congress responsible for all the problems in Jammu and Kashmir as the party expressed hope that the people of the state will give a decisive mandate to the party to form the next government.

"Congress is responsible for all the problems in Jammu and Kashmir. They failed to deliver when they were first part of the coalition with PDP and with the National Conference for the past six years" former Union minister and senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said.

Hussain, who is in Jammu in connection with the ongoing Assembly elections, expressed hope that BJP would form the next government in the state.

"I am in Jammu and Kashmir and will only leave after BJP forms the next government here. We are overwhelmed to see the response of the people, I toured the Muslim majority areas of the state and was surprised to see how much the Muslim residents love Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

Reacting to Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's remark that 90 per cent of the crowd in Modi's rally in Kishtwar constituted outsiders, Hussain said, "Congress has insulted the people of the state."

The Congress leader (Azad), who himself lives outside the state, has now failed to identify the people of the state. The party (Congress) that has its leader from outside can call everyone an outsider," Hussain said.

Reacting to the manifesto released by Congress, Hussain said, "Their manifesto is nothing more than rubbing salt on the wounds of the people of the state as they failed to do anything for them when they were in power in the state. Hussain said Modi has a dream for the state of Jammu and Kashmir, to bring it on the developmental map of the country.

"Narendra Modi does not indulge in the politics of region or religion, he believes in the slogan of justice for all. The party slogan is Sab ka Saath, Saab Ka Vikaas, it has nothing to do with the religion of anybody. He wants to provide world class infrastructure to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, generate job avenues for the people of the state to bring them out of the miseries of poverty and underdevelopment," he said.
