Parliament adjourned for day after paying obituary to Karunanidhi

Yesterday, both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned on Tuesday after paying obrituary  to DMK chief
M Karunanidhi. As soon as the Lok Sabha met, President Sumitra Mahajan informed the members of the
demise of Karunanidhi (94) describing him as "visionary" and "leader of the public", he said that he spread
his political philosophy through screenwriting and produced some of the finest hits in Tamil cinema.

After seeing a moment of silence in its memory, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day. In
the Rajya Sabha, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu described Karunanidhi as a versatile personality while reading
a death sentence. While introducing his career as a screenplay writer, Karunanidhi used Tamil cinema to
promote Dravidian ideology.
