Madhyahn Bhojan Karyakram Yojna
This scheme has been introduced to increase enrollment in Primary Schools and to maintain regular attendance in classes. Mid Day Meals is provided to the children studying in Govt. and Govt. aided Primary schools. Under this scheme, 100 grams of cooked meal is provided to each student.

Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan
This scheme was launched in March, 2009 with the objective to enhance access to secondary education and to improve its quality. The implementation of the scheme started from 2009-10. It is envisaged to achieve an enrolment rate of 75% from 52.26% in 2005-06 at secondary stage within 5 years of implementation of the scheme by providing a secondary school within a reasonable distance of any habitation.

National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level in Andhra Pradesh

Mid Day Meal Scheme
The centrally sponsored Mid Day Meal Scheme launched for enhancing enrollment, retention and attendance and simultaneously improving nutritional levels among children.
The objectives of the mid day meal scheme are:
1. Improving the nutritional status of children in classes I – VIII in Government, Local Body and Government aided schools, and EGS and AIE centres.
2. Encouraging poor children, belonging to disadvantaged sections, to attend school more regularly and help them concentrate on classroom activities.
3. Providing nutritional support to children of primary stage in drought-affected areas during summer vacation.

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)
The Centrally Sponsored Scheme “National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)” was launched in May, 2008. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at class VIII and encourage them to continue the study at secondary stage. Scholarship of Rs.6000/- per annum (Rs.500/- per month) per student is awarded to selected students every year for study in classes from IX to XII in Government, Government aided and local body schools.

This is a new Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched in 2008-09 and is being implemented from 2009-10 to set up a 100-bedded Girls’ Hostel in each of 3479 Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs) in the country. The Scheme has replaced the earlier NGO driven Scheme for construction and running of Girls’ Hostels for Students of Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools, under which assistance was provided to voluntary organisations for running Girls’ Hostels.
