NPF Said Tuki made Wrong statement For The Nagaland Development,NPF reacts to Arunachal CM Nabam Tuki's statement, Nagaland News update. |
Taking a dig at Arunachal Pradesh chief minister, Nabam Tuki who had accompanied AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi during the recent election campaign at Mon and Tuensang, Naga People’s Front (NPF) Tuesday said that Tuki made “ridiculous” statement that Nagaland was the least developed state in Northeast. In a rejoinder, NPF press and media bureau said Tuki’s statement was far from truth. NPF pointed out that Nagaland had won several awards in recent years for developmental efforts, such as “Krishi Karmen Award 2013” from the ministry of Agriculture, government of India for best improvement in foodgrain production amongst small states, “Most improvement in infra-structure development Award, 2011” from the India Today Group etc. As per Vision-NE 2020 document, NPF said the growth rate in NSDP during 1980-81 to 2005-06 in respect of Nagaland was 6.80%, whereas Arunachal Pradesh was 6.59% and that of the entire Northeast as only 3.85%. It said the level of poverty, as per latest available figure of Planning Commission for 2009-10 was 20.09% in Nagaland, Arunachal as 25.90% and 25.06% for the Northeast. In this regard, NPF said in terms of NSDP growth rate, Nagaland was doing better than Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast. It also pointed out that level of poverty was also much lower in Nagaland as compared to Arunachal Pradesh or the Northeast region. Regarding Tuki’s statement that Arunachal Pradesh had constructed roads upto Nagaland border and that Nagaland had not taken any initiative, NPF said he was referring to the inter-state connectivity road under NEC, where it said construction of road on Nagaland side has also made good progress. NPF reminded Tuki that Nagaland was “several miles ahead of Arunachal Pradesh in terms of road development and other infrastructures”. It said almost every village in Nagaland has motorable road connectivity, while several villages and some administrative centres in Arunachal lack motorable road connectivity. NPF said categorizing Nagaland as the least developed state amongst the Northeast states was worse than the “proverbial case of the pot calling the kettle black.” NPF said Tuki’s statements once again highlights that the Congress was dependent on leaders from outside flying in for a few hours and making unjustified allegations without knowing the ground realities and having any accurate information. “Mere gimmick for the sake of election propaganda will not convince the Naga people” NPF stated. source:http://www.nagalandpost.com |
