Chief Minister Nabam Tuki continued his whirlwind tour of poll-bound states of the North East campaigning for the Congress. On Friday he addressed three campaign rallies in Tura area of Meghalaya covering three Assembly constituencies of Tura South, Tura North and Dalu.

At Dalu, the last Assembly constituency of Meghalaya bordering Bangladesh, Tuki urged support for INC candidate K R Sangma from the electorates. Similarly accompanied by contesting candidates of the party, he addressed party rallies in Tura South as well as Tura North.

While Congress is fielding Villikid A Sangma from Tura South, Noverfield Marak is contesting from Tura North.

Urging the voters to let Congress continue to rule the state, Tuki spelt out projects and schemes to be launched by the Congress Government if voted back to power for welfare of the common people and development of the state in all fronts.

He assured that Congress was committed to give a boost to the education sector by establishing a technical university that would be made operational within the next five years. On the health front he said the party would ensure quality health care affordable to all sections by enhancing the coverage and amount insured of the recently launched Universal Health Insurance Policy of the state government.

Taking on behalf of the Congress party, Tuki also assured increase in agriculture and horticulture productivity, ugradation of roads, provide livelihood by creating 10000 new jobs in government sector and 1 lakh new job opportunities in non-governmental sectors, empowerment of women, control on militancy and development of tourism sector.

Former IYC General Secretary Nyamar Karbak accompanied the Chief Minister all through the election campaign.

Meghalaya goes to poll on February 23 next along with Nagaland.
