Altogether four Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been suspended by the Election Commission of India for not taking poll-related work seriously, said Chief Electoral Officer Ashutosh Zindal.

The accused BLOs committed mistakes in performing duty in the revision process of electoral rolls. However, the CEO did not specify what the mistakes were.

Three of them were from West Tripura district while 1 was from Dhalai district. He informed that all efforts have been made to prepare error-free electoral rolls.

Meanwhile, Congress has filed four separate complaints over violation of Model Code of Conduct by Left Front leaders.

The latest development accused the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar of violating the guidelines. Being asked on the complaints, Zindal asserted and said the state election machinery has been conducting investigation into the complaints with care.

“We have sent a report to ECI after completion of the investigation into a complaint. The rest three complaints are being investigated”, the CEO maintained.

Though, nobody has been reprimanded by ECI for violation of model code of conduct so far. It is hinted that the ECI may caution the accused to be careful in the future after asking him to explain.

However, following the complaint, the state election authorities obtained the necessary recordings. Left Front leaders insisted that their leaders had not violated the model code of conduct, framed by ECI.
