Madhya Pradesh village panchayat Election to be held in 3 phases
Village panchayat polls will be held in three phases in Madhya Pradesh on January 13, 19 and February 19 for 3.92 lakh posts of zila, janpad and gram panchayats, it has been officially announced.
President of zila and janpad panchayats would be elected by the elected members of the respective panchayats. Elections would be held across fifty districts which include 51,313 'janpads' and 22,851 village panchayats, would not be fought on party lines.
State election commissioner R Parasuram declared the panchayat election schedule on Monday. So, the model code of conduct has also come into force. The model code of conduct would not be implemented in urban areas, said Parasuram.

Voting for posts of panch and sarpanch would be conducted through ballot papers while EVMs would be used for the posts of zila and janpad panchayat members.
Counting for the posts of panch and sarpanchs would be done immediately after voting at the polling booths itself. Counting for members of zila and janpad panchayat members would be done at development block headquarter.
The process for filing nominations would begin from December 22 and the last date for filing nomination would be December 29. Scrutiny of papers would be done on December 30 while names could be withdrawn by January 1. Allotment of symbols too would be done the same day.
The first round of voting would be held on January 13 and counting on January 16. Counting for the second round of voting that would be held on January 31 would be done on February 4. Counting for the last round of polling that would be held on February 19, would be done on February 22.
Parasuram said, A total of 3,41,77,063 voters including 1,62,53,346 women are expected to vote across 67,082 polling booths, including 23,232 sensitive booths.
Elections would be held for 313 posts of janpad panchayat president and 6,757 posts of janpad panchayat members. There are 22,851 posts of sarpanch and 3,61,550 panch for which elections would be held.
