AGP to go alone in Assam polls, Asom Gana Parishad, Assam assembly polls, Assam assembly election 2016, Congress, BJP ,Atul Bora
Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has announced that it will go alone in the upcoming assembly polls in Assam.
Talking to media persons in Guwahati Wednesday after the party’s General Committee meeting, President Atul Bora said that as of now Asom Gana Parishad has decided not to form alliance with the BJP.He said that the party wanted to have issue based alliance with the BJP which was not materialized.
Mr.Bora insisted that the party has no secret understanding with the Congress. He said Asom Gana Parishad had sought 48 seats from the BJP in the 126 members assembly .
But he said that the number of seats offered by the BJP to them was an insult to the party.However he did not reveal the number of seats offered by the BJP to them.Several district committees of the party earlier opposed any alliance with the BJP.
