Two new political parties for Assam soon

Guwahati: It is season of new political parties in Assam with assembly election in the state just a year away, former BJP national executive member and former IT cell national convenor Prodyut Bora has decided to float a new political outfit christened as Liberal Democratic Party.

Former Team Anna member and RTI activist, Akhil Gogoi will also launch his political party and announcement to this effect will be made on March 20 when social activist Anna Hazare will be in Assam.

Bora who resigned from BJP on February 18 this year complaining about style of functioning of top leadership including Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and president Amit Shah has in social media Facebook announced that name of his new outfit Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

Bora told ET, "LDP will be ideologically committed to liberalism and social democracy. So in a sense it more than erstwhile Swatantra Party, founded by C. Rajagopalachari that existed from 1959 to 1974."

Bora added that, "The party's constitution will be ready by this Saturday. After election commission's necessary approval we are expecting to formally launch the party by next month. To start with we will concentrate on Eastern India and the first election the party will face is the 2016 assembly polls."

With his comdre, Arvind Kejriwal now Chief minister of Delhi, Akhil Gogoi has revived his plan of launching a political party.

Akhil has shelved plans of launching political party at the heights of electioneering in Delhi last month. Gogoi said that he will launch a political party, which will be a channel of alternative polity.

Akhil who is President of peasant organization, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) which is constituent of National Alliance of People's Movement (NAPM) said, ""We will formally announce a new political force, which will be against the Congress and the BJP and will offer an alternative to the people. But we will make a formal announcement after a thorough discussion during the convention. Hazare will address members and supporters of the KMSS on the concluding day of a three-day convention at Disao Botua village playground in Upper Assam' Sivasagar district."

Akhil was against the formation of Aam Admi Party (AAP) by Kejriwal in 2013. KMSS which claims to have membership of 13 lakh cadres has campaigned against congress during the last Lok Sabha polls. It has supported candidature of some BJP candidates.

However now Akhil and BJP are frequently tongue lashing each other over the issue of land swap deal with Bangladesh and big dams.
