HYDERABAD: The TDP-BJP combine is gearing up for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. The TTDP leaders including the GHMC election incharges and coordinators met Nara Lokesh on Tuesday and held discussions over the strategy to be adopted for the polls.
During the meeting, it was decided that Lokesh joins the party’s campaign in a full-fledged manner while Naidu will direct the party from behind. Naidu will stay put in Hyderabad from December 17 in view of the AP Assembly session.
’Naidu will be addressing a public meeting on December 27 or 28 at Nizam College grounds,’’ a senior TDP leader told Express.
The TDP has also decided to organise Jenda Pandaga (hoisting of party flag) in all the 150 divisions of the GHMC on December 22.
TDP MLA Maganti Gopinath, meanwhile, exuded confidence that the TDP-BJP will win more than 80 seats of the 150 divisions in the GHMC.
‘’Even without having a MLA in Greater Hyderabad limits in 2009, we won 45 seats. Now, the TDP-BJP combine has close to 15 MLAs and we will win 80 seats,’’ he said and rubbished the TRS surveys on GHMC elections.
At a separate press meet, BJP state president G Kishan Reddy said the seat sharing talks will start on December 18. Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, who is the incharge of the GHMC elections, will hold discussions with the TDP leadership.
In the wake of defections of party leaders and elected representatives, Naidu will review the affairs of the party in two districts daily.
A decision on supporting Congress in the MLC elections in Nalgonda and for one seat in Mahbubnagar will also be reviewed.
BJP Party Elections: BJP state president G Kishan Reddy said the party’s organisational elections will be held in January and he is not in the race for the president post. The Constitution of the BJP mandates that no person can be the party president for more than two terms. Keeping in this view, Kishan Reddy’s candidature cannot be considered.
