Opinion Poll: People expect peace, unity in 2015

Most of the Thais expect to see peace and unity in the year 2015, according to an opinion survey by Suan Dusit poll carried out on 1,642 people throughout the country between Dec 25-Jan 3.

The survey was intended to find out what they expect to be improved or what they think will become worse in 2015 regarding the country as a whole, the people and their communities.

  • As for "Thailand as a whole," on the favourable side, most or 92.20% of the respondents expect to see peace and unity to prevail; 88.31% want to see improvements on the economy and investment and a decline in good prices; and, 83.92% expect to see higher techonologies on communications and transportation.

On the unfavourable side, 75.15% of those surveyed expect to see a decline in the belief in culture, traditions and religion; 70.77% expect to see people with a lower level of morality, becoming selfish and adhering to consumerism; and, 65.74% are concerned over the country's education and future of youths.

  • Regading "the people," on the favourable side, the respondents expect to see advancement in career and education (89.04%); higher responsibility and enthusiams (82.70%); and, higher salaries and money for spending.

On the unfavourable side, they expect to see more aged people and illnesses (84.65%); hard work with no time to rest (77.59%); and, higher goods prices and cost of living (76.13%).

  • Regarding "communities," on the favourable side, the respondents expect to see better roads and public utilities (80.15%); improved hygiene and environment (77.34%); and, unity (73.45%).  

On the unfavourable side, they expect to see higher rates of robbery, drugs and gambling (85.63%); fewer trees, less water and disturbing weather (81.33%); and, more problems over teenagers (79.05%).
