About the Constituency :
Covering the districts of Anuppur and Umaria, and parts of the districts of Shahdol and Katni in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, the Shahdol Lok Sabha seat is a politically significant Parliamentary constituency in the state. The total number of electorates in the Shahdol Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 12) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,272,377 of which 663,395 are males and 608,982 are females. It is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.
About theAssembly Segments:
While the assembly segment of Barwara lies in the Katni District, and the segments of Manpur and Bandhavgarh cover parts of Umaria District, Jaisingnagar and Jaitpur are spread across the Shahdol District, while the remaining districts fall under the Annupur District.

The Shahdol District is backward in the agricultural sector. A total of 1,271,044 voters are part of this parliamentary constituency. The Bandhavgarh Fort and Pali Birsinghpur in the Umaria District are some of the must-visit tourist spots in the Shahdol Parliamentary constituency. The Virateshwar Temple, built in AD 1000, is one of the most influential tourist spots in the Shahdol District, drawing lakhs of people yearly, especially for its beautiful statues and portraits such as sensual postures related to Kamasutra, Vinavadini and Ardhnarishwar; statues of Gods and Goddesses such as Agni, Panchlokpal, Batuk Bhairav, Amrut Bhairav, Nag Couple; and others.
