Situated in the Sabarkantha District in the northern region of the state of Gujarat is the Sabarkantha Parliamentary constituency. With eight talukas and a relatively large population of 2,427,346 (2011 data), the Sabarkantha District makes the region one of the most politically stable yet active seats in this western Indian state.
The economy of the Rajkot Parliamentary constituency thrives on a strong industry, the focus being on ceramics, chemicals and milk-processing, besides an advanced agricultural base. Yet, the district has been announced as one of the most backward regions in Gujarat, being entitled to the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme (BRGFP).
