About the Constituency:
Alwar Parliamentary Constituency, formed in 1952, is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Rajasthan which presently comprises of eight Vidhan Sabha segments with one reserved for the ST category. The Alwar Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 8) has a total of 1,373,384 electorates out of which 639,365 are females and 734,019 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.

About Alwar:
The headquarters of Alwar District is in the city of Alwar, located in the Shekhawati region in the north-eastern part of Rajasthan at a distance of about 150 km north of the capital of the state. The city lies at an average elevation of 268meters. Hindi is the official language of Alwar.
As per the census reports of 2011, Alwar has a total population of 1,051,310 of which 53% are males and 47% are females and about 13% of the total population is children below the age of six. The city of Alwar has an average literacy rate of 71.68%. Hinduism is predominant religion here with 77% of the total population being Hindu, followed by 17% of Muslims. It has a sex ratio of 894 females per 1000 males. This district is fairly rich in mineral resources and agriculture is also a vital economic activity. The city has a number of notable schools, colleges and universities. It has a well-established system of rail and road networks that connect it to the major cities of the nation.
