The 11-member engineering team of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) has completed the first level inquiry (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Control Units and Voter Verifiable Verification Paper Audit (VVPAT) Machines and some machines found faulty.
After BEL supplied the machines, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on the direction of ECI, a team, led by Mr Dubey, Assistant Engineer, BEL, launched the FLC on August 31 and completed the task on Tuesday evening after individually checking all the machines.
Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the direction of ECI, after the supply of machines to BEL, a team under the leadership of Mr Dubey, Assistant Engineer, BEL launched FLC on August 31 and after personally testing all machines completed the task on Tuesday.
Officials said that the team is getting 11 EVM, 31 VVPAT and 33 control units.
After the completion of FLC, the machines were kept in the high-security godown and sealed in the presence of Collector J. Jayakanthan, who is the District Election Officer.
The faulty machines would be sent back to BEL and ECI would take a decision on replacing them after studying the exigency, officials said.
In all, the district, which had 1,348 polling stations, received brand new 3,310 EVMs, 1,800 control units and 1,800 VVPAT machines.
The machines would be checked in the presence of candidates before they were dispatched to the polling stations at the time of elections, officials said.
