Opinion poll and exit poll banned
The Election Commission has banned the conduct of any form of opinion or exit poll till 6.30 p.m. on election day on May 16.
It has also banned the dissemination of the results of such surveys through media, electronic as well as print, till 48 hours after the polls.
The commission has evoked Section 126 (1) (b) of the Representation of the People Act to enforce the ban.
Meanwhile, the printing of service postal ballot has been completed. The ballot papers have been sent to various district headquarters. The printing of paper required for voter verified paper audit trail has commenced at State and Central security presses. They will be soon distributed to district centres.
