Kapil Sibal accuses Modi of spreading lies, challenges him for open debate.
New Delhi: The war of words between the Congress and BJP is heating up. Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi alleging that the Gujarat Chief Minister needs to do a fact finding check before he delivers a speech and challenged him for an open debate on any matter.
"I challenge Modi to a debate. He can choose the platform, location, language and issues. I am ready. But he will never agree to a debate, he has never given a press conference," said the Congress leader.
Mincing no words, Sibal said that the BJP leader lacked basic knowledge and was merely making ficticious claims. "I wonder how the man with no knowledge of history can dream of creating history. He thinks Alexander reached the Ganga, Chandragupta belonged to the Gupta dynasty and does not know that Taxila is not in Bihar but in Pakistan," said Sibal mocking at Modi.
Sibal, who is part of the Manmohan Singh government, claimed that Modi lacked vision on key national issues. "Modi has no vision. His constant refrain is country should be freed of Congress. If anybody aspires to be a PM, he should give his vision on India.
What is his vision on India?" said Sibal. He said that unlike Modi, the Congress makes claims based on facts. The Congress leader also questioned the source of finance on Modi's rallies.
"All of us have seen Narendra Modi's rallies in beautiful stadiums. If he against black money, just like Advaniji, one must also investigate into where the money comes from," Sibal added referring to the massive arrangements made for the BJP leader's rallies.
