New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Friday hit out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying those who dream of becoming the prime minister are the biggest losers. "Those who dream to become the PM are biggest losers( HOTE HEIN BARBAD).

Has he learnt his lesson from Advani ji permanent PM in waiting ?," he wrote on Twitter. He also took a dig at Modi by saying that he has probably realised that he cannot become the prime minister.

"Or he is seeing the writing on the wall? There is a saying in Gujarat "LEBA GAYA HAVELI KHO DIYO AHEMDABAD" Looks like Modi has become wiser," he tweeted. Those who dream of PM post are the biggest losers: Digvijaya to Modi Sources said Chouhan has conveyed to the BJP that Modi should not be projected as the party's PM candidate before Assembly polls. Modi had said on Thursday that his priority is the people of his state who have elected him till 2017.

When asked about Prime Ministerial ambitions by a student during a Teachers' Day function, he said he has no intentions of becoming anything, but he just wants to serve the people of Gujarat till 2017 as they have elected him as the chief minister. These statements by Modi came at a time when the BJP seems to be divided on making him the Prime Ministerial candidate.

Top RSS leader Bhaiyyaji Joshi met senior BJP leader LK Advani and some other top leaders on Sunday night to discuss the issue. Meanwhile, sources told CNN-IBN that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has conveyed to the BJP high command that Modi should not be projected as the party's prime ministerial candidate before Assembly polls.

He has conveyed the message to party President Rajnath Singh and senior party leader LK Advani last week. Sources also said that senior party leaders Sushma Swaraj and Advani have also opposed Modi's elevation until after the Assembly polls in Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh later in 2013. The Advani camp insists this will polarise the polity at a time when the UPA is grappling with corruption, economic crisis and non-performance.
