Finally, for Manmohan Singh 'Offence is the best form of defence', Congress.

The Prime Minister rarely speaks. Even when he speaks, he speaks less in a feeble voice and his speeches are very boring. They inspire or excite none.

Dr. Manmohan Singh has proved that even he can get angry. The anger he showed, shocked his own party, not just the opposition. The Opposition was waiting for an opportunity to pounce upon the Prime Minister, whom they consider light weight and at times treat him with contempt.

The quiet Sardar lost his cool and attacked the Opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha. It was a rare sight. He did the same, way back in 2008, during the confidence vote on the nuclear deal.

The Prime Minister was prevented from making a statement on the economic crisis. The opposition led by the BJP jeered at him questioning his leadership and credibility.

The leader of the opposition Arun Jaitley once again brought back the issue of Confidence vote and described it as a big 'deal'.

The Deputy Chairman of the house Prof. P J Kurien tried his best to restore order in the House as the visibly angry Prime Minister stood quiet looking at the members.

According to some seasoned PMO watchers he got so angry because the opposition raised serious questions over his personal integrity. The opposition hinting at his possible role in the disappearance of Coal scam files made him really angry and he tried to assert his authority by taking on the opposition head on.

It seems, the PM had been waiting for a chance to prove his critics wrong for a long time. The economist prime minister was at his best. He dropped the economist gown for a moment and wore the hat of a real politician.

As a senior journalist says ' Manmohan Singh has always been an overrated economist and an underrated politician. He has always been a great political survivor and sensing an opportunity to prove his political acumen, he took on the unruly opposition, today'.

The interesting part of today's heated debate is, even though it was on economic crisis, the Prime Minister's tone and tenor were purely political. He used the platform to tell the nation that he can also practice the tried and tested 'offence is the best form of defence' method to silence his detractors.

The Lok Sabha elections are less than 6-7 months away. Every day a new obituary of Manmohan Singh's politics is being written by journalists and politicians.

Is the Prime Minister sending out a strong message to his own party that he is still in the race and can't be condemned to political death?
