Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party campaign committee chief Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished a speedy recovery to Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressing concerns over the lack of facilities in taking her to the hospital. Modi said she should have been taken to the hospital in a well-equipped ambulance from Lok Sabha on Monday night.

"Considering her health, Sonia ji should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance. Still, doctors are best judges," Modi tweeted on Tuesday.

He also said there should be wheelchairs and stretchers in Parliament. "Concerned that basic medical emergency procedures were not used. Would have been better if wheelchair or stretcher were used in Parliament," he tweeted.

Wishing Sonia good health, Modi tweeted, "Glad to know that Sonia ji's health is fine. Wishing her the best of health for the future."

Sonia Gandhi was discharged from hospital late on Monday night. She was taken to the hospital after she fell ill during the debate on the Food Security Bill in the Lok Sabha on Monday evening.

The Congress President had taken medicines to treat a cold but then complained of chest uneasiness. She left Parliament without waiting for voting on the Food Security Bill and was rushed to AIIMS.

Sonia Gandhi was taken to the Intensive Care Unit but later moved out and kept under observation. Doctors say the Congress President is suffering from viral fever but is stable.

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Madam, it looks, had medicines for common cold and headache, as a result of which she had some uneasiness and she had to be brought to AIIMS and now all test have been conducted and she is perfectly fine and has gone home."

Several leaders of the Congress made a beeline to AIIMS to inquire about Sonia's condition. Sonia was stated to be suffering from viral fever since Sunday and was suddenly taken ill after spearheading UPA's ambitious Food Security Bill in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

She was seen leaving Parliament at 8.15 PM and holding the hand of Union minister Selja before boarding a vehicle. Her son and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also accompanied her. Security was beefed in and around AIIMS.

In a tweet, Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj wished Sonia a speedy recovery.

Doctors earlier examined Sonia at her home on Sunday and Monday, sources said. Earlier on Monday, Sonia led the party in the debate on the landmark Food Bill describing it as a measure to wipe out hunger from the country.
