Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was anointed as the BJP Campaign Committee chief, has adopted a unique style of campaigning. Modi is making his presence felt everywhere, one day he addresses the students in Pune and in the same week tours Jagannath Temple in Puri. During his campaign he has also faced criticism for his comments.

Modi is scheduled to address people in Hyderabad in the second week of August. Call it the American style fund raising or an experiment of sorts in electioneering in urban India, the BJP has decided to charge Rs 5 per ticket from the people who want to attend the event in Hyderabad.

The BJP is expecting around 50,000 to 1 lakh attendance at the meet. The organisers feel that they would be able to meet the expenses of the function, which is scheduled to take place at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. The first day of online registration for the meeting saw close to 8,000 registrations.

However, the party continues to assert that the money collection is being done for the relief operations in Uttarakhand, which was badly hit by cloudbursts and flooding last month.

Modi's rally in Hyderabad is being closely watched, in spite of the ticket controversy, as the BJP has enlisted its support to the separate Telangana statehood demand, while the Congress has been delaying any decision on the demand.
