New Delhi: In a hurried press conference after an equally hurried meeting, the BJP announced that it has settled its difference with Advani, 24 hours after the senior leader had resigned from key party posts in a huff.

BJP Chief Rajnath Singh stated that he had spoken with LK Advani and clarified to the senior BJP leader that the party still needed his guidance and leadership. Rajnath also said that the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had spoken to Advani earlier.

Rajnath also stated that Advani was told that his resignation was rejected by the BJP Parliamentary board and that Advani accepted the boards decision, agreeing to stay on with the BJP.

The BJP Chief also said that he assured Advani that should Advani have any issues with the running of the party, Rajnath would address the issues personally.

Rajnath ended the brief press conference by declaring that Advani had withdrawn his resignation, and refused to go into further details or take any questions.

However, tellingly, Advani did not appear during the press conference, even though the conference was held in his own residence.

According to NDTV, sources indicate that Advani was not angered over Modi's elevation, but instead his wrath was directed at the RSS who insisted that Modi would be elevated, whether Advani would like it or not.

Rajnath hopes the issue will now soon be resolved and put to rest.
