Candidate with same name, ploy to cut vote of opponent
INDORE: As old saying goes everything is fair in love and war and so in election,
candidates of assembly election of Madhya Pradesh are coming up with new
and smart ways to cut into the votes of opposition candidates.
Congress candidates from Rau and Depalpur constituencies of Indore have
made their supporter with the similar name of their main opponent to file
nomination as independent to confuse the voters on the day of voting and
cut into the votes of opponent.
Congress candidate from Rau Jitu Patwari who is giving tough fight to
sitting MLA from BJP Jitu Jirati in the constituency come with an cleaver
move to cut into the vote of his opponent that too without violating any election code.
Resident of Pivrai Anil Jitu Jirati, a supporter of Congress candidate
Jitu Patwari filed his nomination from Rau as independent candidate. Now
on the electronic voting machine (EVM) there will be two Jitu Jirati and
as per the rule of election commission according to which name of candidate
are put in serial order on EVM alphabetically name of independent candidate
will be above the name BJP candidate as name of independent in question has
initial name Anil.
Similarly BJP candidate from Depalpur constituency, Manoj Patel facing an
independent candidate with his name and fear that it may cut his votes.
Interestingly both the constituency has significant rural voters as half of
the Rau is rural and entire Depalpur come under rural. BJP workers in
both the constituency fear that voters may press wrong button in confusion.
Jitu Jirati alleged that is conspiracies of the opponent who can not defeat him
otherwise are opting for such things to cut into votes. He added that now during
campaign they will also inform voters about it and ask them vote after seeing symbol
of the party.
BJP candidate Manoj Patel said sitting MLA of Congress fears to lose election so they
are coming up with such tactics but it will not help.
