There is a straight fight between Gopikishan Bajoria, official candidate of Shiv Sena and BJP alliance, and Ravindra Sapkal, official candidate of Congress — NCP Front, in the Maharashtra state legislative council polls from Akola-Washim and Buldhana local body constituency.
The election will be held on December 27 and counting to be held on December 30, according to the official sources.
Sitting Shiv Sena MLC Bajoria is seeking reelection to MLC for the third time in a seat sharing formula. The Shiv Sena got this Akola seat and Bajoria is confident of winning a third term. However, Sapkal has an edge over Bajoria, say experts.
Earlier, the BJP had been itching to capture this seat, and some factions of the BJP have expressed displeasure with the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance decision. "This fractured opinion in the BJP may work against Bajoria," says political pundits.
