Devendra Fadnavis kick starts election campaign of BJP for KDMC polls, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation polls 2015, Devendra Fadnavis,KDMC polls,bharatiya janata party,Shiv Sena,BMC polls
The chief minister Devendra Fadnavis was in Dombivli to inaugurate the election campaign of BJP and the candidates of Sangharsh Samiti of 27 villages on Tuesday evening. At this meeting, he spoke about development of the twin cities of Dombivli and Kalyan and the need for an employment centre.
The meeting was held at Premier colony ground, at Manpada, Dombivli. Addressing the audience, Fadnavis said that the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) polls will decide whether the 27 villages will be included in KDMC or not. "The voters from these 27 villages will decide whether to include these villages in KDMC jurisdiction or not through electoral process," he said.
He also stressed on the importance to have a growth centre, on the lines of employment exchange, in Dombivli. Earlier the 27 villages had announced boycott of the upcoming KDMC elections for want of a separate municipal council. All the political parties had decided not to field candidates in the polls. But last week Shiv Sena nominated candidates, as a result of which, Sangharsh Samiti of these 27 villages decided to go ahead with polls.
"The samiti has representatives from all political parties. We have decided to contest the elections, or else Shiv Sena will win unopposed in the upcoming elections which we do not want," said Gulab Vaze, president, Sangharsh Samiti. The samiti is backing candidates from BJP and other political parties except Sena. Of the 122 wards in KDMC, 21 wards are in these 27 villages.
