Voting for elections to 34 municipal councils in Vidarbha will be held on November 1 while that for four newly created municipal councils in Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district will be held on November 6, as per schedule announced by state election commissioner JS Saharia in Mumbai on Monday.

A three-phase election programme for 2,352 gram panchayats was also announced by Saharia and commission secretary Pradeep Vyas. The polling dates for the panchayat polls are October 28, November 1 and November 6. Electoral code of conduct will be enforced from tonight in all the places where elections are scheduled.
