As the Congress preps for a meeting of top leaders on Friday where Rahul Gandhi is expected to be named prime ministerial candidate, its Ajay Maken tweeted a preview - new posters showcasing the 43-year-old party number 2 and his anti-corruption agenda.

With the slogan "Rahul ji ke nau hathiyar, door karenge bhrashtachar (Rahul ji has nine weapons with which he will end corruption)," the posters list three laws and nine bills that the Congress-led UPA government intends to push in the next session of Parliament.

"Rahul ji ka uddeshya, bhrastachar mukt desh (Rahul ji's aim, corruption-free India)," says another poster.

The three anti-corruption laws - the Black Money Regulation Act, Lokpal and the Right to Information Act - have been enacted during the UPA' two-term tenure. These, along with the six bills the Congress wants to pass next month, form what Mr Gandhi calls the framework of his anti-corruption battle. 

The Congress vice-president worked hard to facilitate the passage in Parliament of the Lokpal Bill in a short winter session last month and his party gives him all the credit for the new law, which sets up a national anti-graft ombudsman.

The Congress' rout in Assembly elections in four major states last month is seen partly as a result of people's disenchantment with the Centre for its failure to stem corruption. The elections saw Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party make a spectacular debut in Delhi, riding on its anti-corruption plank.

Since the December debacle, Mr Gandhi has reiterated that the Congress' main agenda will be the battle against corruption and tackling the huge rise in prices of essentials. The party has convened a meeting tomorrow to decide on its campaign theme ahead of the AICC session on Friday, January 17.source:ndtv
