Bangalore, May 1:

Former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said in an interview to a news channel on Wednesday that the people of the state still supported him more than anybody else.

The leader, who joined the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP), said he was disappointed to see that other accused people in the BJP continued in high offices in the BJP government in the state while it was only him who had been accused of corruption. He was particularly critical of the Deputy Chief Minister, K Eswarappa. He said he had no concern about the BJP and was still in a powerful position in the state politics after leaving the saffron party.

Yeddyurappa said he is particularly concerned about the well-being of the farmers and those from the backward sections in the state. He said the current chief minister Jagadish Shettar couldn't manage things properly and he would provide better conditions to the people.

Yeddyurappa said it would not be possible to form the state government in Karnataka without his support. Karnataka is go going to the assembly polls on May 5 and it is believed that the exit of Yeddyurappa, a Lingayat strongman who was forced to quit the CM's post owing to corruption charges, could give a blow to the ruling BJP. The party has been routed in the recent urban local body polls. The election results will be announced on May 8.
