Arjun Munda, BJP, sworn in as Jharkhand CM with support of JMM

Arjun Munda became Jharkhand CM for the third time. He was sworn in as the CM with the support of JMM, AJSU. Hopefully this arrangement would work this time and Jharkhand would get a stable government which is very much required. Since the formation of Jharkhand state there has been no single stable government.

Finally BJP and JMM are set to form government in Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha with CM as BJP candidate Arjun Munda. JMM, AJSU have sumitted there support for a BJP led government to the governor and that has been accepted and confirmed.

The central government approved president's rule in Jharkhand Tuesday, two days after Shibu Soren stepped down as chief minister. The Soren government had been reduced to a minority after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) withdrew support.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren resigned on Sunday night after failing to muster enough support for his government in a test of strength in the Assembly tomorrow.Soren gave his resignation letter to Governor M O H Farooq, said his son Hemant Soren in Ranchi. The Governor has asked Soren to continue as caretaker Chief Minister till further arrangement, said an official.

Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) have agreed to share power in rotation for 28 months each, Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren said Tuesday. He is likely to step down May 25 for former chief minister Arjun Munda, who may head the BJP-led government.

"We have agreed to share power in rotation. The BJP and the JMM will each rule the state for 28 months," the JMM chief said at a joint press conference with BJP national general secretary Munda. It was the first appearance of Soren before media with BJP leaders during the ongoing political crisis.  

Asked who would lead the government first, Soren said: "At present I am the chief minister." He, however, did not clarify when he would step down.  Munda added: "The BJP will run the government for the next 28 months and then power will be transferred to the JMM."  

According to the BJP, the transfer of power is likely to take place next week. "Shibu Soren has agreed to quit on May 25 to transfer power," BJP leader in charge of the party's affairs in Jharkhand  Karuna Shukla said.  

The JMM, it is learnt, acquiesced to giving up power after former BJP president Rajnath Singh conveyed to Soren that the party would be forced to withdraw support. According to BJP sources, the JMM was asked to take a decision Tuesday or the BJP would withdraw support Wednesday.    

The final announcement followed a day of hectic developments with Munda going to the party office and then to Soren's residence. He was later joined by state BJP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Raghubar Das as well as Shukla. 

Shibu Soren Sworn in as Jharkhand CM

Shibu Soren , leader from JMM was finally sworn in as Chief Minister of Jharkhand state on 30th decemeber with 42 MLAs supporting him. He got the support from BJP + JD(U) and AJSU party. He is the 7th CM in 9years of state formation. He is hugely popular amongst poor and tribals and popularly known as "guruji". There were 2 deputy CMs also sworn in one was BJP state president Raghivar Das and AJSU president Sudesh Mahato.

Coming out of Raj Bhavan after staking claim, Soren said he had submitted the letter of support to the governor and now it was for Raj Bhavan to do the rest. "I have submitted the letters of support and will form government for the development of the state," said Soren.

He further stated that his government's priority will be to bring stability and take the state on the road to development. "My priority will be the all-round development of the state especially of the downtrodden," he added. Soren, however, could not give any reason for not being able to get JD(U)'s letter of support.

Former chief minister and BJP MP Arjun Munda, who accompanied Soren, said: "JD(U) is very much part of the alliance and it will formally hand over its letter of support after the election of its legislature party leader is completed."

"The nine departments will be distributed among the three parties with JMM getting four berths, BJP three and AJSU and JD(U) one each," said a source.
